THIS PROGRAM, WHICH BECOMES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2004, IS AVAILABLE TO ANY EMPLOYEE WHO INCURS WORK RELATED COMMUTING EXPENSES. IF YOU RIDE A BUS, TRAIN, SUBWAY OR OTHER MASS TRANSIT VEHICLE TO WORK, PARTICIPATE IN A VANPOOL, PAY PARKING FEES FOR PARKING YOUR CAR AT WORK OR A TRANSIT STATION YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. IF YOU CHOOSE TO TAKING ADVANTAGE OF BENEFITS INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM, YOU CAN SAVE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A YEAR IN TAXES BY PAYING YOUR TRANSIT AND PARKING FEES WITH BEFORE TAX PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS.

"Transplantations save lives, but only if you help. All you need to do is say yes to organ and tissue donation on your donor card and/or driver's license and discuss your decision with your family. Each day about 60 people receive an organ transplant, but another 15 people on the waiting list die because not enough organs are available. Talk to your family members about organ and tissue donation so they know your wishes. Even if you've signed something, your family may be asked to give consent before donation can occur. Be an organ and tissue donor. You could save or enhance the lives of more than 50 people!"

Employees at Verizon can receive a check for $500 to present to the charity where they volunteer 50 hours or more per year. Employees can earn two awards of $500 for two separate nonprofit organizations per year. Employees' volunteer profiles are automatically updated on the Verizon Foundation Web site.

Employees can register 50 hours or more online at http://foundation.verizon.com/V2 or by phone 8am-8pm M-F at 866-247-2687. The foundation will then verify the volunteer hours with the organization. A check is sent to employee within 90 days for presentation to the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization can verify online at the Verizon Foundation web site or call the number above.
